Overview:
This recruitment aims to create a candidate pool for current and future openings in various County departments, including the District Attorney, Public Defender, and Child Support Services.

Current Opportunity:
The immediate vacancy is within the Tulare County District Attorney's Office.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations of felony and misdemeanor offenses by collecting, organizing, preserving, and documenting evidence and facts.
- Manage complex investigations, including significant fraud cases, political corruption, intricate homicides, and capital offenses.
- Interview victims, defendants, witnesses, and other relevant individuals to gather crucial information.
- Assess psychological backgrounds in specific cases, particularly those involving capital punishment.
- Analyze testimonies, document essential points, and prepare comprehensive investigation reports.
- Collaborate with Probation Officers, Social Service Workers, and law enforcement to locate absent parents or responsible relatives.
- Determine the financial status of defendants and review various public and private records.
- Serve legal documents and may testify in court as a witness.
- Establish payment plans and agreements with delinquent parties.
- Stay updated on the latest investigative methods and criminal trends within the County and State.
- Compile intelligence on known criminals and fraudulent activities.
- Assist attorneys in preparing cases by gathering related reports and evidence.
- Collect and secure physical evidence, including prints, biological samples, and documents.
- Maintain statistics on criminal activities and investigations.
- Investigate drug-related offenses and trace missing individuals.
- Utilize surveillance equipment and photographic tools effectively.
- Foster positive relationships with the community during daily interactions.
- Support fellow investigators during busy periods.

Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of high school, supplemented by technical training in police science or investigation.
- Experience: A minimum of three years as a peace officer, including at least one year in criminal investigations.

Licenses/Certificates:
- Valid Regular Basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate.
- Valid California driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with investigative equipment, police codes, and legal procedures.
- Knowledge of drug identification and observation techniques.
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish or other languages prevalent in the County are advantageous.

Additional Information:
Candidates selected for employment will undergo a comprehensive evaluation process, including a background check, psychological assessment, and medical examination, including drug screening. Successful candidates must complete an 80-hour POST Investigator Course within their first year of employment to maintain their position.
