Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) operates under the guidance of the RN Supervisor and LPN, delivering comprehensive medication administration tailored to the unique needs of each patient. This role adheres to established nursing practices and standards, ensuring high-quality care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers prescribed medications to patients while maintaining accurate medical records under RN supervision.
  • Presents medications to patients, ensuring proper ingestion or application, and documents any instances where medications are not administered.
  • May prepare and mix medications for patient administration, as well as manage medication inventories.
  • Assists nursing staff in providing personal care, including hygiene, meal preparation, and support with daily living activities.
  • Recognizes and promptly reports any changes in patients' physical or behavioral conditions.
  • Utilizes appropriate safety measures and infection control practices during patient care.
  • Supports clients in enhancing their activity levels through proper positioning and mobility assistance.
  • Participates in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of clients as directed.
  • Engages in mandatory training and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborates effectively with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma
  • Certification as a Medical Technician

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least one year of experience in a group home or similar setting.
  • Experience with medically fragile children or similar populations is advantageous.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Involves physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases in the healthcare environment.
  • Flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
