POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, working under the guidance of the RN Supervisor and LPN. This position is dedicated to ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications to patients, tailored to their individual needs, while adhering to established nursing protocols and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers prescribed medications to patients, maintaining accurate medical records under RN supervision.
- Ensures patients receive their medications as directed, observing and documenting any issues with administration.
- May assist in the preparation and organization of medication supplies for patient care.
- Participates in inventory management of medications, ensuring proper stock levels are maintained.
- Provides personal care support to patients, including assistance with hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
- Recognizes and reports any changes in patient conditions or behaviors promptly.
- Utilizes appropriate safety measures and infection control practices in all patient interactions.
- Encourages and assists patients in maintaining an active lifestyle through appropriate exercises and mobility support.
- Facilitates the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients as required.
- Engages in ongoing training and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborates effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Medical Technician is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications are mandatory.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record is necessary.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferred.
- Experience working with medically fragile populations is advantageous.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to engage in physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting.
- Exposure to potential health risks associated with patient care is possible.
- Flexibility to work at various facilities as needed.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of community health resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of and adherence to company policies and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic healthcare team.
