Job Title: Service Drive Used Vehicle BuyerJob Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Drive Used Vehicle Buyer to join our team at Sonic Automotive. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for purchasing used vehicles from multiple sources and presenting offers to current vehicle owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, appraise, and present offers to current vehicle owners to purchase their vehicles.
  • Interface with dealership customers to appraise and offer to purchase their current vehicles.
  • Utilize Sonic Automotive's automated inventory management system to manage vehicle inventory.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and changes in the geographic market.
  • Provide guidance and support to dealership Sales Associates on purchasing used vehicles.
  • Appraise used vehicles and provide accurate valuations.
  • Attend daily trade walks to identify potential vehicle purchases.
  • Exhibit a high level of commitment to guest satisfaction and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Stay knowledgeable about federal, state, and local laws governing retail automotive sales.
  • Establish personal income goals and devise a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Attend product and sales training courses as requested by the General Manager or Sales Managers.
  • Stay current with new products, features, accessories, and their benefits to guests.
  • Explain depreciation and equity to guests.
  • Introduce guests to sales department personnel to sell them a new vehicle after purchasing their existing vehicle.
  • Maintain an owner follow-up system to encourage repeat and referral business and contribute to guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a prospect development system of current used vehicle prospects and schedule appointments to appraise and purchase used vehicles.
  • Attend sales meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • College degree preferred but not required; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • High level of customer service required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to meet company production and quality standards.
  • Outstanding computer skills required.
  • Previous dealership, selling, or marketing experience preferred.

  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver's license.
