Core Responsibilities:

Curriculum Support

  • Assist the lead teacher in preparing the classroom for instructional activities.
  • Help organize and distribute educational materials.
  • Provide instruction to students under the guidance of the lead teacher.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress as required.
  • Ensure the classroom environment is organized and conducive to learning.
  • Utilize resources effectively to enhance learning experiences within the classroom and community.
  • Exhibit strong classroom management techniques, fostering an atmosphere of respect and encouraging independent thought.

Classroom Dynamics

  • Collaborate with parents to build trust and confidence in the educational process.

Facility Management

  • Ensure the learning environment is orderly and that instructional facilities and equipment are used safely and appropriately.

Job Objective: To provide essential support to the lead teacher, creating a positive and effective learning atmosphere for students. The Substitute Teacher Assistant reinforces instructional practices, offering individualized attention to help students understand concepts and complete assignments. They assist in classroom management, ensuring a smooth daily routine while fostering respect and inclusivity. Through dedication and teamwork, the assistant contributes to the overall success and growth of the educational community.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of at least two years of higher education (equivalent to 60 semester hours) or possession of an associate's degree (or higher); or meeting a rigorous standard of quality through formal assessment.
  • Demonstrated exemplary work habits as verified by previous employers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification from the state.
  • Knowledge and ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Background in educational settings with school-age children.
  • Effective communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
