A Behavioral Support Specialist collaborates under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), offering various services related to behavioral evaluation, treatment strategy formulation, and execution of documented behavior plans. Additional responsibilities may include other related tasks as assigned.
- Must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of completion of the General Education Development (GED) test.
- Hold a valid driver's license and the capability to acquire a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
- Reliable transportation is essential for fulfilling job responsibilities associated with this classification.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with young children or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
- Personal experiences with mental health issues/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders are valued.
- Individuals in Recovery and those with military service experience are appreciated.
A Behavioral Support Specialist must maintain good physical health to facilitate the lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or more and to endure prolonged periods of standing or walking. This role requires the ability to lift and transfer clients from wheelchairs to other surfaces as necessary. The employee must also be capable of executing physical intervention techniques as instructed and sanctioned by the agency.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The position typically involves working at various community locations and within family homes. The ability to drive and travel to sites both within and outside the county is necessary. EVALUATION PROCESS
Candidates for County employment may undergo a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the specific nature and responsibilities of the position. When such a check is performed, an employment offer is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must successfully complete a probationary period before their appointment is considered permanent.

PURPOSE OF RECRUITMENT
The aim of this recruitment is to create an eligible list from which to fill current and future vacancies in this classification within the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has the discretion to select candidates who meet the required minimum qualifications. This list remains valid for three months unless exhausted or extended.
