Aquatics Director Job Description

As an Aquatics Director at the YMCA, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering a high-quality Aquatics program that aligns with the organization's mission and strategic plans. This role requires a strong leader who can supervise and manage a team, develop and implement programs, and ensure the safety and well-being of participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Aquatics programs that meet the needs of the community and align with the YMCA's mission and strategic plans.
  • Supervise and manage a team of Aquatics staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, and other support staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants by maintaining a safe and healthy environment, adhering to all state and local regulations, and providing training and education to staff.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including program expenses, staffing, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote the Aquatics program and ensure its success.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in Aquatics and apply this knowledge to improve programs and services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role, including supervision, program development, and fiscal management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of current aquatic safety and program standards, latest trends in Aquatics, and ability to articulate and incorporate them.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR.
  • Experience in budget and fiscal management.
  • Knowledge of YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
