This pivotal leadership role collaborates closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, engaging in policy formulation and committee activities while partnering with staff across various departments. The incumbent will oversee financial stewardship, information technology management, risk assessment, office administration, and oversight of construction initiatives.

The responsibilities include:

  • Strategic financial planning and management of the annual operating budget.
  • Forecasting both short-term and long-term cash flow requirements.
  • Coordinating with external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Administering oversight of substantial invested funds.

In addition, the role encompasses:
  • Management of information technology systems to safeguard against cyber threats.
  • Reviewing and approving all contractual agreements.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment among departments to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Building community partnerships and nurturing key external relationships are also essential components of this position. The successful candidate is expected to reside within the vicinity of Acadia National Park to facilitate these connections.

This role includes serving as the primary staff liaison for the Investment Committee, Finance Committee, and Audit Committee. The incumbent will also prepare and present quarterly and annual financial reports to these committees and the Board. Furthermore, support will be provided to program and development teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.

The CFO will supervise the Accounting Manager and Operations Manager & Systems Administrator, offering backup support as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business, with a minimum of five years of successful experience as a Chief Financial Officer.
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in leadership and team management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Boards and manage organizational resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support organizational initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Raiser's Edge, Financial Edge, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience in IT Operations Management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with commercial construction project management is a plus.
