Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to act as the Design Engineer Project Manager, overseeing the engineering development and design of urban and rural highway and roadway projects within the Transportation Division. This position will also provide mentorship to junior engineers, offering guidance and support in their professional growth in the field of highway engineering. Collaboration with the Transportation Team will be frequent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct highway design and calculations.
  • Ensure quality control and supervise the creation of detailed engineering designs for roadway, highway, and interchange projects, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Possess design experience in urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and ADA compliance projects.
  • Assist in developing and mentoring the highway engineering competencies of junior and entry-level design engineers.
  • Engage in regular client interactions and prepare reports.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) registration is mandatory.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in highway design and project management.
  • Experience with preliminary and final design for ODOT projects, specifications, and guidelines is preferred.
  • Proficient in using Civil 3D, OpenRoad Designer, and other roadway design software.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office programs, including MS Project.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO Policies and Guidelines is essential.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
