As a Junior Structural Engineer in our design center, you will collaborate with national leaders and local experts to assist clients with structural design projects. Current and Upcoming Projects:

New Lock Final Design: We are tasked with designing a new 1200' lock as part of the U.S. Inland Waterway Navigation System, which includes the design of lock walls, guide walls, and gates.

Dam and Reservoir Design: Our team is engaged in the 30% design phase for a new reservoir and four dams in Colorado, focusing on preliminary designs for concrete dams, spillways, and outlet works.

Spillway Design: We are developing a new spillway designed to manage floodwaters while facilitating fish passage.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structural design and analysis for civil works structures, including flood walls, navigation locks, and dam structures.
  • Perform calculations using engineering principles for project design.
  • Execute quality control checks on calculations, drawings, and quantities.
  • Research design alternatives and document findings for senior engineers.
  • Address challenges using established design standards and methodologies.
  • Interpret and develop structural design plans.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Provide necessary information to Project or Senior Engineers for specifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments to determine the best course of action.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (master's degree preferred).
  • 0-5 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
  • EIT Certification is required.
  • Familiarity with current structural design methodologies, codes, and standards.
  • Experience in structural concrete and steel design.
  • Knowledge of developing structural drawings.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., SAP2000, SAFE, LPILE, GROUP).
  • Interest in learning BIM and/or CAD software platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley OpenBuildings, MicroStation).
  • Interest in learning 3D FEA structural analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills demonstrated through education and relevant experience.
