About the Role

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our water infrastructure group, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering complex water and wastewater treatment plants, water resource facilities, and other water conveying and containment systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design of water and wastewater treatment plants, water resource facilities, and other water conveying and containment systems.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop project proposals, conduct marketing and sales activities, and provide technical expertise.
  • Develop and implement project management systems to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
  • Select, train, and develop technical personnel to ensure the success of our projects.
  • Serve as a technical expert and provide guidance on structural engineering matters related to projects.
  • Plan and develop projects or design activities, and supervise the work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians.
  • Assume project management responsibilities on larger projects, although project management is not the sole focus of this position.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience, with a focus on building design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE, or similar analytical software.
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis.
  • Previous experience working with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • A commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • WA State Structural Engineer Licensing (SE).
  • Experience in project management and structural engineering design of water and wastewater treatment plants, water resource facilities, and other water conveying and containment systems.
  • Intimate knowledge of REVIT and Auto Cad.
  • Experience with related structural design software, such as Risa 3D, Risa Foundations, Risa Connections, SAP 2000, Staad Pro, Excel sheets, Tedds, Enercalcs, and more.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
