Electrical Controls Engineer II

Position Summary:
The Electrical Controls Engineer II is responsible for the design and enhancement of electrical and control systems for our product lines. This role involves ensuring that all designs comply with relevant engineering documents and industry standards, such as UL and NEC, to guarantee the safety, quality, and performance of our products. The engineer will work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to various aspects of project development.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is essential.
- Proficient in interpreting technical documents, including construction drawings and control schematics.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Detail-oriented with a positive and proactive approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Occasional inspections of products during the manufacturing process may be required.
- Proficient in 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications is necessary.
- Knowledge of UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and confirm construction drawings, addressing any concerns with the relevant teams promptly to avoid delays.
- Engage with various engineering departments, sales, marketing, and operations, actively participating in project meetings.
- Notify relevant personnel of any long lead materials identified.
- Create and validate the Bill of Materials (BoM), coordinating with the SCADA and Systems teams for necessary components.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of drawing packages before submission.
- Design electrical circuits for low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and direct current (DC) applications, adhering to established design standards.
- Examine powered electrical components and associated drawings, including fire alarm schematics and panel schedules.
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, Vault, and IFS for design tasks.
- Identify and implement processes that enhance cost efficiency in manufacturing, installation, and operation.
- Ensure adherence to schedules and milestones as outlined in the Master Production Schedule.
- Prepare engineering drawings based on sketches, verbal instructions, specifications, and technical data.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment weighing approximately 40 lbs.
- Periodic visits to the manufacturing floor, adhering to safety protocols.
- Extended periods of sitting while using a computer.
