The Electrical Controls Engineer II is responsible for the design and enhancement of electrical and control systems for our product lines. This role involves ensuring that our projects adhere to engineering specifications and relevant industry standards, including UL and NEC. The primary objective is to guarantee the safety, quality, and functionality of our products. This position requires both independent and collaborative work, contributing to various aspects of project complexity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical documents such as construction drawings, control schematics, and product manuals.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented with a positive attitude and accuracy in work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Occasional inspection of products during the manufacturing process may be required.
  • Proficient in 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
  • Skilled in using MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and confirm construction drawings, addressing any concerns with the EPC and Operations teams promptly to prevent delays.
  • Engage with other engineering teams, sales, marketing, and operations, actively participating in project meetings as necessary.
  • Notify relevant personnel of any long lead materials identified.
  • Create and validate the Bill of Materials (BoM), coordinating with the SCADA and Systems teams for necessary components.
  • Examine and approve drawing packages before submission and release.
  • Design electrical circuits for low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and direct current (DC) applications, ensuring compliance with established design standards.
  • Review electrical components and schematics, including fire alarm layouts and panel schedules.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, Vault, and IFS for design tasks.
  • Identify and implement processes that lower manufacturing, installation, and operational costs.
  • Ensure adherence to schedules and milestones as outlined in the Master Production Schedule.
  • Prepare engineering drawings based on sketches, verbal instructions, specifications, and technical data.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment weighing approximately 40 lbs.
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing floor while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Extended periods of sitting while using a computer.
