Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Electrical Controls Engineer II is responsible for delivering electrical and controls design solutions for enhancements in the electrical and controls framework of our product lines. This role also involves coordinating site-wide documentation as required for specific projects. The primary objective is to ensure that our equipment, sites, and projects are constructed and implemented according to engineering specifications, manufacturing protocols, and necessary standards such as UL and NEC. The position requires a blend of independent and collaborative work, contributing to moderately complex project components.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Capability to interpret various documents including construction blueprints, single line diagrams, product manuals, control schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented with a positive attitude and accuracy in work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Occasional inspection of products during the manufacturing process may be required.
  • Proficient in 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
  • Competent in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and confirm construction drawings, addressing any concerns with the EPC and/or Operations teams promptly to avoid potential delays.
  • Engage and communicate with various engineering teams, sales, marketing, and operations. Actively participate in project meetings, including handoff, release reviews, and design discussions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any long lead materials as they become known.
  • Create and validate the Bill of Materials (BoM). Collaborate with the SCADA team to ensure the ordering of necessary communication components. Work with the Systems team to ensure appropriate communication components are ordered. Responsible for establishing the Vault structure (folders, items, ECOs) and coordinating with manufacturing support.
  • Examine and validate drawing packages before submission and release.
  • Design electrical circuits for low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and direct current (DC) applications, ensuring adherence to established design standards.
  • Review powered electrical components and schematics, including fire alarm layouts and panel schedules.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, Vault, and IFS for design tasks.
  • Identify and implement processes that minimize the overall cost of manufacturing, installation, and operation of our products.
  • Ensure adherence to schedules and milestone dates as outlined in the Master Production Schedule.
  • Prepare engineering drawings based on sketches, verbal instructions, specifications, and technical data.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally assist in moving materials and equipment weighing approximately 40 lbs.
  • May require visits to the manufacturing floor while adhering to proper safety protocols.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting while utilizing computer systems.
