Position Overview:

The Electrical Control Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing the electrical and control designs associated with product advancements for our manufacturing lines. This role also involves coordinating comprehensive site drawings relevant to specific projects. The primary objective is to ensure that our equipment and projects adhere to engineering specifications, manufacturing standards, and safety regulations, including UL and NEC. This position requires both independent and collaborative efforts, contributing to various project components.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Proficient in interpreting documents such as construction blueprints, single line diagrams, product manuals, and control schematics.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented with a positive, proactive approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse teams.
  • Occasional inspections of products during the manufacturing process may be required.
  • Proficient in 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software.
  • Skilled in MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and confirm construction drawings, promptly addressing any concerns with the EPC and/or Operations teams to prevent delays.
  • Engage with other engineering departments, sales, marketing, and operations, actively participating in project meetings, including handoff and design discussions.
  • Notify relevant personnel regarding any long lead materials identified.
  • Generate and validate the Bill of Materials (BoM), coordinating with the SCADA and Systems teams to ensure the correct communication components are procured.
  • Examine and approve drawing packages before submission and release.
  • Design electrical circuits for low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and direct current (DC) applications, ensuring compliance with established design standards.
  • Assess powered electrical components and drawings, including fire alarm schematics and panel schedules.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, Vault, and IFS for design tasks.
  • Identify and implement processes that minimize manufacturing, installation, and operational costs.
  • Ensure adherence to schedules and milestone dates as outlined in the Master Production Schedule.
  • Prepare engineering drawings based on sketches, verbal instructions, specifications, and technical data.
Work Scope:
  • Electrical/control systems as defined in construction documentation or product specifications, including controllers, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial PCs.
  • House power systems such as transformers, panel boards, distribution conduits, and HVAC controls.
  • Integration with switchgear controls and electrical needs for gas train systems.
  • DC systems including battery stations, racks, consoles, and distribution details.
  • Specialized electrical/control requirements like communication systems, gas leak detection, and fire alarm interfaces.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation sets, including BOMs, schematics, and wire/conduit schedules to facilitate safe and efficient equipment installation.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Occasional lifting of materials and equipment weighing approximately 40 lbs.
  • Periodic visits to the manufacturing floor, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Extended periods of sitting while utilizing computer systems.
