Role Overview

The Principal Specialist in Strategic Planning plays a crucial role in fostering new business growth, innovation, and development. This position significantly impacts the strategic direction, operational efficiency, competitive standing, profitability, and long-term viability of the organization.

This role is essential for steering strategic initiatives, aligning the North American operations with overarching strategic objectives, and facilitating transformative change. The Principal Specialist ensures the effective execution of vital changes, enhances organizational efficiency, and adapts to shifting market dynamics.

Responsibilities include overseeing the timely and budget-conscious development and deployment of new business technology solutions, integrating cross-divisional systems, and innovating business processes to meet current and future customer demands.



Key Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives Development

  • Drive innovation and generate ideas for new business opportunities.
  • Identify and assess new business prospects; formulate and execute strategies.
  • Establish the vision and strategic goals for the business unit.
  • Develop a roadmap to align with Honda's future vision.
  • Utilize market research to evaluate competitive landscapes and feasibility, devising strategies to leverage emerging opportunities.
  • Lead teams to ensure successful and high-quality implementation.
  • Present strategic initiative insights and recommendations to executives and regional planners.

Business Solutions Expertise

  • Design comprehensive business system solutions to address challenges.
  • Collaborate with key project team members to create and implement solutions efficiently.
  • Develop long-term strategies to ensure future growth and sustainability.

Financial Analysis and Recommendations

  • Assess financial aspects of strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough cost/benefit analyses for new business initiatives.
  • Provide informed recommendations to executive management based on analytical findings.
  • Evaluate post-launch outcomes and identify areas for improvement using Business Intelligence tools.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Promote innovation and organizational success.
  • Foster alignment across the enterprise for business solutions.
  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among various divisions.
  • Develop strategies for collaboration to ensure comprehensive business requirements are integrated into strategic direction.
  • Contribute to the development of business systems infrastructure that meets evolving customer demands.

Change Management Leadership

  • Drive transformation of new business models.
  • Establish change management methodologies and plans for successful execution of strategies.
  • Prepare the organization for technological and operational changes.


Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in developing and executing business strategies.
  • 3-5 years in business development, strategic planning, and project management.
  • Deep understanding of the automotive industry.
  • 7-10 years in Parts, Service & Technical functions with comprehensive knowledge of operations.
  • Experience in supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Proven program management experience with the ability to manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in stakeholder management and understanding success factors.
  • Highly organized in managing resources, timelines, and priorities.
  • Expertise in project management tools and change management practices.
  • Strong risk management capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of customer and market trends.
  • Results-oriented mindset.
