Job Summary

The Anatomic Pathology Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Gross Room(s) and Autopsy Services at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate and manage daily operations, staff, and resources to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Section Coordination: Verify specimen integrity, quality control records/logs, and quality assurance parameters are maintained. Coordinate and monitor corrective action.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures: Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and document control.
  • Compliance: Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, JCAHO, CAP, multi-disciplinary, hospital regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Laboratory Information System (LIS): Participates in planning and maintenance of the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Quality Assurance: Performs, records, and maintains quality assurance and patient information as required by the laboratory and accrediting agencies.
  • Technical Support: Coordinates operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment; assures maintenance of service records.
  • Financial Management: Creates, develops, and maintains RVU and productivity systems. Assures that all billing for services is accurate, timely, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Operating Budget: Assists in preparation and monitoring of expense/revenue budgets.
  • Capital Budget: Coordinates preparation of major equipment purchase proposals, selection, and documents for equipment acquisition.
  • Professional Development: Establishes and executes personal development objectives as part of annual objective setting process.
  • Leadership/Problem Solving: Adheres to Patients First Management standards on leadership, communication, and visibility.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in anatomic pathology operations, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience are required.
