Position Overview

Role Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), the Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in aiding patients with health challenges that hinder their mobility and daily activities. The assistant is instrumental in restoring physical function and enhancing mobility while promoting overall wellness. Treatment modalities may include in-clinic sessions, teletherapy, and home health services, tailored to the specific needs of the caseload.


  • Execute treatment plans or protocols as outlined by PTs.
  • Support PTs in the rehabilitation of injured, ill, or disabled patients to improve their physical health and daily functioning.
  • Gather and compile data to document client performance and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Record client progress towards established treatment goals, adhering to submission timelines.
  • Manage a caseload of full-time (32+ clients) or part-time clients.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams to ensure a positive client experience.
  • Engage with family members and provide educational resources to enhance therapy carryover at home.
  • Collaborate and communicate patient progress with relevant stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education or a recognized accrediting agency by the AZ Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant through the Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy is required.
  • Experience in early intervention for developmental delays or disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of communication disorders is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • A positive and professional demeanor is expected.
  • Willingness to engage in training and education in specialized treatment areas.
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

This role involves intermittent standing, lifting, kneeling, and sitting. The assistant may work with clients who present mental, physical, and/or behavioral challenges, and who may occasionally exhibit verbally or physically aggressive behavior.
