Position Overview

The Radiation Therapy Specialist is responsible for delivering precise therapeutic radiation treatments as per the directives provided by the Radiation Oncologist. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety and treatment efficacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Therapeutic Radiation: Execute radiation therapy in strict accordance with the prescribed treatment plan.
  • Prescription Verification: Thoroughly check treatment prescriptions to confirm dosage accuracy and mitigate potential errors.
  • Preparation of Treatment Environment: Set up the treatment area and necessary equipment, including immobilization devices and beam shaping tools.
  • Patient Interaction: Clearly explain treatment procedures and assist in patient setup for their sessions.
  • Monitoring Patient Condition: Observe and document any changes in the patient's health status, reporting these to the Radiation Oncologist or radiation therapy nursing staff.
  • Documentation: Accurately record administered treatments in patient charts and maintain the record verification system.
  • Chart Review: Conduct thorough checks of patient charts and report any discrepancies found.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition.
  • Work Area Management: Keep the treatment area clean and organized.
  • Supply Management: Monitor and replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Varian TrueBeam technology and Mosaiq EMR.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy.
