Job Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for administering radiation therapy to patients while executing various technical tasks related to tumor localization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administers therapeutic radiation in alignment with the prescribed guidelines and directives from the Radiation Oncologist. Verifies the prescription to ensure dosage accuracy and mitigate potential errors.

2. Captures and analyzes port-images to confirm precision; ensures that images are evaluated and sanctioned by a Radiation Oncologist.

3. Prepares the treatment area and necessary equipment for patients, including immobilization devices, field parameters, and beam shaping. Clearly explains procedures and assists in setting up patients for treatment.

4. Monitors and communicates any changes in the patient's condition to the Radiation Oncologist or radiation therapy nurse. Accurately documents treatments administered in patient records and verification systems.

5. Conducts chart audits and reports any inconsistencies.

6. Performs daily quality assurance and safety checks as mandated by regulations.

7. Ensures that equipment is maintained in a safe and operational state. Reports any defects or issues for necessary adjustments and repairs to the chief technologist and/or medical physicist.

8. Keeps the work environment clean and organized. Restocks and replenishes supplies as required.

9. Undertakes additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an AMA accredited program in radiation therapy.

A minimum of one year of experience in clinical therapeutic radiation therapy. Clinical rotations in accredited programs may be considered for experience.

Possession of a NYS Radiation Therapist License.
