Engineering Support Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY:This position entails a proficient clerical and technical role dedicated to delivering administrative support functions pertinent to the Engineering and Traffic Operations of the County. Responsibilities include managing public inquiries, issuing relevant work orders, and overseeing administrative control systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties outline the primary functions of this role, though they are not exhaustive. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
- Handles all walk-in visitors and incoming calls directed to the Engineering, Traffic Operations, GIS, and Critical Infrastructure departments, providing information as needed.
- Performs standard clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and operating office machinery.
- Manages the receipt and distribution of all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Ensures the availability of essential office supplies.
- Engages with the public regarding various permits, including Driveway, Right of Way, and Utility Permits, while processing payments through cash, checks, or credit cards.
- Prepares daily financial deposits and maintains tracking reports.
- Handles documentation related to the Vacation of Easements, Right of Ways, and Plats.
- Confirms addresses for public and private entities, including government agencies.
- Provides clerical assistance to the GIS/Addressing Department.
- Maintains a professional and safe work environment, adhering to established safety protocols.
- Consistently follows Board policies and procedures.
- Adapts positively to changes and performs additional tasks as directed.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proficiency in operating office equipment such as copiers, computers, and calculators.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- The ability to learn technical details related to Public Works projects to assist citizens effectively.
- Capability to function efficiently in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.
- Strong communication skills for effective business correspondence.
- Good judgment and the ability to make independent decisions.
- The ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
The individual in this role must:
- Be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
- Frequently reach for files and office items on low shelves.
- Inspect and manage daily email and postal correspondence.
- Communicate regularly with various stakeholders.
- Operate office equipment, including computers and copiers.
- Occasionally navigate stairs and handle materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Work primarily indoors, with rare exposure to outdoor conditions.
Three years of clerical experience, preferably in a computerized environment.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:A valid Florida Driver License is required. Must obtain Notary Public certification within six months of hire.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:This position is designated as Disaster Essential.
