Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering nursing care to patients facing common and well-defined health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate as a vital member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, applying the nursing process to implement patient care.
- Perform nursing services under the supervision of a registered nurse, utilizing all nursing skills to make safe and appropriate decisions within the LPN scope of practice.
- Adhere to Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, and Oceans' Mission, policies, and procedures.
- Provide quality nursing care by collecting patient data, identifying deviations from normal, and assisting with reassessments based on unit protocols.
- Document all findings accurately in patient records and communicate pertinent assessment findings with healthcare team members.
- Implement nursing interventions as outlined in the individualized multidisciplinary treatment plan, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
- Conduct bedside laboratory tests, provide wound care, and assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Administer medications safely in accordance with facility policies and physician orders, ensuring accurate communication and documentation.
- Maintain continuity of care by following up on patient responsibilities and communicating needs with other disciplines.
- Utilize nursing knowledge to meet the needs of the facility, patient population, and staff effectively.
- Guide and educate new staff as a preceptor, while performing additional duties as assigned.
Must possess a current, valid, and active license to practice as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse in the state of employment. A minimum of one year of inpatient hospital experience is strongly preferred.
The LPN must demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, to achieve positive outcomes with diverse internal and external customers. Organizational skills and sensitivity to serve culturally diverse populations are essential.
Critical thinking abilities are required for continuous improvement in patient care. Successful completion of CPR certification and an approved behavioral health de-escalation program is mandatory.
This position requires spending approximately 90% of the time indoors, providing protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
