Position Overview

The role of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is essential in delivering nursing care to patients facing common health challenges. This position operates within a collaborative healthcare team, employing the nursing process to implement patient care effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality nursing care to assigned patients by gathering data and recognizing deviations from the norm.
  • Assist in reassessing patients based on unit protocols and under the guidance of a registered nurse.
  • Document all findings meticulously in patient records and communicate relevant assessment results to the healthcare team.
  • Implement nursing interventions as outlined in the individualized treatment plan, collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct bedside laboratory tests, manage wound care, and assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Administer medications safely, ensuring compliance with facility policies and physician orders.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding patient care responsibilities and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of care.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge to meet the needs of patients and enhance evidence-based practices.
  • Guide and mentor new staff members as a preceptor.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a current and valid license to practice as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse in the relevant state. A minimum of one year of inpatient hospital experience is strongly preferred.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for achieving positive outcomes with diverse patient populations. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills and sensitivity to serve individuals with varied cultural backgrounds and special needs.

Critical thinking abilities are crucial for the continuous improvement of patient care. Candidates must also complete CPR certification and an approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment

This position requires spending approximately 90% of the time indoors, providing a controlled environment for patient care.
