Position Title: Senior Emergency Management Planner

Location: Camp Murray, WA

The Washington Emergency Management Division (EMD) is in search of a dedicated and proactive individual to join our esteemed Planning Team. This role involves providing advanced professional support and expertise in emergency management to various stakeholders, including federal, tribal, state, and local entities.

Role Overview: As a Senior Emergency Management Planner, you will report directly to the Planning Program Supervisor and take on significant responsibilities in managing the Catastrophic Incident Annex within the State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP).

About the Emergency Management Division: The EMD, part of the Military Department, plays a crucial role in leading and coordinating efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters in Washington State. Our mission is to minimize the adverse effects of emergencies on our communities, environment, and economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and revise the Catastrophic Incident Annex of the State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of potential catastrophic hazards and create hazard-specific appendices.
  • Facilitate the integration of state catastrophic plans with those of local jurisdictions and federal agencies.
  • Provide expert emergency management support to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Participate in the State Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO) during incident activations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Two years of experience as an Emergency Management Program Specialist 2, or
  • A Bachelor's degree coupled with four years of relevant professional experience in emergency management or related fields.

Desired:

  • Experience in emergency planning for organizations with 25 or more personnel.
  • Familiarity with federal and state emergency management policies and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse public and private sector entities.
  • Proficient in analyzing catastrophic hazards and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Compensation: Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.

  • Successful completion of background checks is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license required for driving in the State of Washington.
  • Willingness to work in a military-controlled access installation.
