Overview

The Engineering Project Specialist is responsible for conducting design assessments and ensuring the successful completion of projects while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints. This role involves reviewing industry standards and procedures to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations. The specialist will analyze production reports, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance logs to identify and resolve issues. Additionally, they will provide technical assistance throughout the engineering process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and communicate a comprehensive operational strategy for project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, taking corrective actions to address operational challenges and minimize delays.
  • Identify and assemble necessary resources for project completion, including materials, equipment, and personnel.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs and specifications, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, and forecasts to guide project execution.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain equipment quotations and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Create system layout and elevation drawings for client approval and installation purposes, adhering to company drawing standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining the overall project schedule and meeting critical milestones.
  • Engage in on-site activities, including installation support, commissioning, and testing, ensuring all mechanical punch list items are addressed.
  • Support the Controls Engineer and Software Engineer in developing operational descriptions and testing documentation.
  • Provide engineering calculations to validate the performance of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) and conveyor systems.
  • Participate in all company functions and meetings, including project evaluations.
  • Adhere to all ISO procedures and documentation requirements established by the company.

Travel Expectations

The role requires the ability to travel 20% to 40% annually, often involving overnight stays and extended trips outside the local area.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to various stakeholders.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in material handling systems, including AS/RS, conveyor systems, and their applications in warehousing and manufacturing.
