Engineering Project Specialist

Overview
The Project Engineer II is responsible for conducting engineering assessments and ensuring project completion within financial and time constraints. This role involves reviewing industry standards and practices to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations. The engineer will analyze production reports, equipment failures, and maintenance logs to identify and resolve issues. Additionally, the position entails providing technical assistance throughout the engineering process, developing operational strategies for project execution, and monitoring project progress against established plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement reasonable accommodations to support individuals with disabilities in fulfilling essential job functions.
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers to acquire necessary quotes for mechanical components.
- Create system layout and elevation drawings for client approval and installation, adhering to company standards.
- Manage order entry for mechanical equipment sourced from internal and external vendors.
- Support the Project Manager in maintaining the overall project timeline and ensuring adherence to critical milestones.
- Engage in onsite activities, including installation support, system commissioning, testing, and standby assistance.
- Address and rectify all mechanical punch list items promptly.
- Maintain awareness of all mechanical budget items, ensuring that procured materials align with the approved budget.
- Assist in the development of operational documentation for systems, collaborating with Controls and Software Engineers.
- Help track project milestones and deliverables in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Provide conveyor layouts to the Proposal Development Manager using standard methods and manufacturer tools.
- Conduct engineering calculations to validate the performance of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) and conveyor systems.
- Perform integration validation for various equipment types within each project.
- Be prepared for potential overtime, which may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, based on workload demands.
- Participate in company functions and project review meetings.
- Adhere to all ISO procedures and documentation requirements set forth by the organization.
Travel Expectations
Willingness to travel 20% to 40% annually, often requiring overnight stays outside the local area.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to management and clients.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience with material handling systems, including AS/RS, conveyors, controls, and software applications in warehousing and manufacturing environments.
