Buchanan Law is actively seeking experienced mid-level and senior associates in the field of Real Estate Law to enhance our esteemed team. Ideal candidates will possess substantial expertise in one or more of the following domains: mortgage and mezzanine financing (representing either lenders or borrowers), joint-venture equity arrangements, property acquisitions and dispositions, and/or development projects. We prioritize professional advancement, mentorship, and a collaborative work environment. Candidates with backgrounds in non-real estate transactions are also encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mortgage/Mezzanine Financing: Provide legal guidance on mortgage and mezzanine financing transactions, representing both lenders and borrowers. Draft, negotiate, and finalize financing agreements.
  • Joint-Venture Equity Arrangements: Structure and negotiate joint venture contracts, representing developers, investors, and other stakeholders in equity transactions.
  • Property Acquisitions and Dispositions: Oversee and execute real estate acquisition and disposition transactions, including due diligence, contract negotiations, and closing procedures.
  • Development Projects: Offer legal counsel on real estate development initiatives, encompassing land use, zoning, permitting, and construction agreements.
  • Client Representation: Represent a diverse range of clients, including real estate developers, investors, financial institutions, and corporate entities in various real estate transactions.
  • Transaction Oversight: Manage complex real estate transactions from inception to completion, ensuring all elements are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review legal documents pertinent to real estate transactions, such as purchase agreements, loan documents, joint venture contracts, and leases.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations, including zoning, environmental, and land use requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other practice groups within the firm, such as Corporate, Finance, and Environmental, to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Client Development: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic insights and identifying business development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Mid-level and senior associates with robust experience in real estate transactions, including mortgage/mezzanine financing, joint-venture equity, acquisitions and dispositions, and/or development. Candidates with non-real estate transactional experience will also be considered.
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Admitted to practice in New York.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment, as well as independently.
