POSITION SUMMARY

JELD-WEN is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to enhance our dynamic team.


ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Automation Engineer will oversee manufacturing processes through collaboration with various Group Managers, ensuring that all production activities align with corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

This role may require acting as a Group Manager in their absence and serving as a communication link to the Plant Manager regarding operational responsibilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate daily production schedules by promptly diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Modify and optimize robot programming in response to component changes and production requirements.
  • Utilize strong project management capabilities to lead, plan, budget, and execute significant capital projects.
  • Provide mentorship and training to team members on robot setups and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager or other supervisory personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should possess demonstrated leadership, technical aptitude, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction across all organizational levels.

A solid understanding of JELD-WEN's Mission Statement and corporate objectives is required, along with knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, SDS) and ANSI (RIA) regulations.

Experience in automation applications, including successful development and deployment, is crucial. Familiarity with setting up foundational structures for robot installations in accordance with company standards is expected.

Flexibility and effective time management skills are necessary to ensure efficient project completion.

Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, is required. Local travel may be necessary for training and seminars.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Power Controls, Automation, or Robotics Engineering is required. A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.

Experience in configuring robots and interfacing with PLC I/O's and HMI, as well as knowledge of industrial communication protocols, is essential.

Familiarity with safety device integration and production processes in the door and window industry is advantageous.

Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI), is highly valued.
