The Advanced Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their care journey, with a strong emphasis on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care environment.

This role encompasses the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring that competent and compassionate care is consistently delivered to all stakeholders, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients across inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

The Medical Cardiology unit features 29 beds, comprising 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one 4-bedroom area.

Patients are admitted from various sources, including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities requiring inpatient care.

The patient demographic includes both male and female individuals, acute and chronically ill, presenting with a range of cardiac and medical conditions. Most patients admitted to this unit necessitate telemetry monitoring following minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures, spanning from young adults (18 years) to geriatric patients.


Hourly Range:
$60.93

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing physician orders, administering medications, initiating IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, and documenting care as mandated by company policy and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
  • Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to care provided.
  • Applying sound nursing judgment in managing patient care decisions.
  • Providing primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administering over-the-counter and prescription medications as prescribed.
  • Collaborating with the nursing team to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Directing and guiding ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program conferring a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained and maintained.
  • Previous experience as a PCA or in other nursing assistance roles is preferred.
  • Commitment to improving job performance through ongoing education.
  • Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques, demonstrating the ability to apply them in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
