This role is integral to our mission at NASA Johnson Space Center, where we tackle thrilling challenges in deep space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Systems Engineer - Risk Management for Pressurized Rover Project, your contributions will include:

  • Implementing and overseeing the risk management process throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensuring effective integration of risk mitigation strategies across all levels.
  • Providing informed recommendations regarding the approval, acceptance, closure, and escalation of significant risks.
  • Collaborating closely with the NASA management team and international partners to identify and document project-related risks.
  • Encouraging regular reviews of risk mitigation plans by risk owners.
  • Facilitating the transfer of identified risks to the appropriate organizational units.
  • Delivering training to risk owners on utilizing project risk management tools.
  • Collecting and reporting risk metrics to management.
  • Facilitating training sessions on risk systems and assigning risk owners as needed.
  • Assisting in the integration of risk decision-making practices into daily project activities.
  • Managing the escalation process for risks as necessary.
  • Maintaining awareness of project, program, and center risk systems.
  • Ensuring comprehensive closure and acceptance rationale for risks.
  • Supporting risk submitters in creating and scoring risks.
  • Engaging frequently with inter-organizational teams and stakeholders.
  • Upholding a professional relationship with NASA customers and contractors.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering, along with relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in the technical aspects of risk management within project management.
  • Experience in delivering flight hardware at the project or program level.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with strong teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive documentation and present effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
  • Experience in project management or systems engineering.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of JSC organizations and processes.
  • Experience with risk management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating with NASA's international partners.
