Gateway Systems Engineer

MRI Technologies, a woman-owned Engineering and Technology Services firm, presents an exceptional opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS. This role focuses on the development of habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module, which will serve as a vital outpost orbiting the moon for astronauts.

As a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting and presenting architectural trade studies and analyses that will shape the overall design and performance.
  • Decomposing requirements and establishing specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Creating verification and validation plans and statements.
  • Drafting interface control documents.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on program documentation.
  • Supporting assessments on crew equipment, including stowage containers and inventory management.
  • Presenting findings to program management and engineering leadership.
  • Collaborating with other Gateway system management teams, such as power and life support.
  • Coordinating with related programs, including Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Working within a team environment and reporting progress and challenges to the team lead.
  • Possibly supporting various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction projects, such as advanced clothing technologies and autonomous inventory management.
  • Performing additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in developing space systems requirements documents.
  • Experience in the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly habitation systems.
  • Familiarity with common concepts and practices in the space hardware sector, including mechanical and electrical system design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective presentations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and assess project needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Johnson Space Center organizations and processes.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies.
