Family Services Specialist

As a Family Services Specialist with the City of Winchester, VA, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of children and families in our community. This position requires a strong understanding of social services principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and investigations to identify potential risks and develop safety plans for children and families.
- Schedule and attend home visits to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.
- Assess service needs and coordinate referrals to enhance parenting skills and family functioning.
- Engage and support families through collaborative family partnership meetings.
- Prepare court reports and testify in court as needed.
- Complete required documentation in a timely manner, in accordance with state and local policy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field, or a Bachelor's Degree in any field with two years of related experience in Social Work.
- Valid driver's license and ability to commute within a one-hour time frame of the City of Winchester limits.
