About Us
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the protection of U.S. marine environments. We are currently seeking a part-time Gift Store and Rentals Coordinator to enhance our operations at the Sanctuary Exploration Center. This role is vital in managing the gift store and overseeing facility rentals, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors and partners alike.

Key Responsibilities
The Gift Store and Rentals Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Sanctuary Exploration Center Manager to oversee retail operations and coordinate facility rentals. Responsibilities include:

  • Store Management (20%):
    Conduct product research to identify suitable merchandise that aligns with our mission, manage inventory levels, and ensure attractive product displays.
  • Administrative Duties (15%):
    Maintain vendor databases, manage invoices, and utilize point-of-sale systems for efficient operations.
  • Financial Reporting (15%):
    Generate sales reports, maintain daily sales records, and prepare biweekly financial summaries.
  • Volunteer Coordination (10%):
    Assist in training and supervising gift store volunteers, ensuring they are informed about products and pricing.
  • Facility Rentals (20%):
    Manage scheduling and coordination of events, ensuring adequate staffing and maintaining rental records.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is passionate about marine conservation and sustainability, with experience in retail management or a related field. A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of retail management experience or two years in retail roles with cash handling and inventory responsibilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Google Suite and Excel.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Availability to work weekdays and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Leadership and coaching experience.
  • Background in small business or non-profit retail environments.
  • Understanding of financial management and retail trends.

Compensation: $22 - $24 per hour, commensurate with experience.
