JOB SUMMARY

The Food Service Operations Manager oversees a dynamic dining service operation within the University Dining Services Department. Reporting to the Associate Director for Dining Services, this role involves managing a high-volume dining facility that operates seven days a week during the academic year. The manager is responsible for supervising a diverse team of professional managers, career staff, and numerous student employees, with an annual operating budget that can reach up to $10 million.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Management: Collaborate with the Associate Director and other university partners to establish a clear vision and direction for the dining services team. Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Customer Relations: Manage relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public, ensuring exceptional customer service and satisfaction. Work with marketing teams to effectively communicate dining service offerings.
  • Operational Oversight: Plan and coordinate all operational aspects of assigned areas, including menu development, fiscal responsibilities, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Human Resources: Oversee human resource management within the unit, including staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and training programs to support university standards.
  • Fiscal Management: Manage multiple complex budgets, including forecasting and analysis, while ensuring cost control and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Ensure safety, sanitation, and security standards are maintained in all operations, including the proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
