SUPERVISES: DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION SECURITY, DOCUMENT IMAGING ADMINISTRATOR, & COMPLIANCE OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Operations (VPO) is a vital member of the Executive Committee and will report directly to the President and CEO. The VPO will serve as the primary technological leader for the organization, overseeing the executive management and direction of deposit and systems operations, client-facing technology, Information Technology, and Compliance. This role includes supervising the respective managers and directors in these areas. The VPO must possess advanced knowledge of strategic and operational planning in traditional deposit services, electronic banking treasury management products, core system functionality, and online and mobile banking services.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in banking. Additional consideration will be given for a Master of Business Administration.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years in Senior or Executive Leadership roles focusing on system and branch operations, operational risk management, digital banking, and information technology, with at least 7 years in supervisory positions.

WORK CONTEXT

This role requires the ability to concentrate on critical functions while prioritizing and delegating tasks effectively. Interaction with clients and colleagues may occur in challenging situations, necessitating patience and attention to detail. The position involves working in a stationary position for extended periods and may require travel to various departments and locations as needed. Regular communication through face-to-face discussions, telephone conversations, and electronic mail is essential, along with participation in community functions. Completion of assigned online training courses with satisfactory results is required. The work environment is professional, necessitating appropriate demeanor and attire, and is performed indoors in controlled conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Contributes to the development of strategic and operational plans for areas of oversight.
  • Participates in Board of Directors meetings, strategic planning, and budgeting sessions.
  • Responsible for all board reporting related to areas of oversight.
  • Acts as a leader and role model, fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Creates annual operating plans for direct reports and establishes expectations for indirect reports.
  • Collaborates with the Technology workgroup and department managers to execute the approved technology strategic plan and budget.
  • Evaluates processes to identify opportunities for efficiency and sustainability.
  • Ensures that reporting areas possess sufficient system knowledge to support all managers.
  • Attends industry conferences as requested by the CEO.
  • Serves as the primary risk management officer for areas of oversight.
  • Works closely with the Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Stays informed about developments in digital banking and online security to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
  • Reviews and recommends amendments to operations, treasury management, and IT policies to the Board of Directors.
  • Manages and assists in the training and development of department staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the organization's evolving strategic objectives.
DEPARTMENT OVERSIGHT
  • Operations - The Director of Operations will report to the VPO, overseeing the Business Resources Department, Operations Support, and Branch Operations.
  • Information Technology - The Director of Information Technology will report to the VPO, establishing expectations for information security and network management.
  • Information Security - The Director of Information Security will report to the VPO, responsible for safeguarding company and customer information.
  • Document Imaging Administrator - This position will report to the VPO and will collaborate with Operations, Lending, and IT.
  • Compliance - The Compliance Officer will report to the VPO, ensuring a robust compliance program.
RELATIONSHIPS
  • Accountable to the CEO for fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Interacts with the CEO and Executive Committee to share insights and opportunities.
  • Collaborates with all departments, particularly Operations Support, Business Resources, IT, and Compliance.
  • Engages with bank regulators and auditors.
COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Executive Committee - Comprising the President/CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Credit Officers, Chief Banking Officer, and the Vice President of Operations, this committee meets monthly to address operational and strategic issues.
  • Information Security and Technology Steering Committee - Chaired by an external Board Member, this committee oversees information security reporting and technology strategic planning.
  • Risk Management Committee - Composed of executive and senior management staff, this committee oversees the Bank's risk management plan.
