Accounting Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and contribute to our mission-driven work. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your accounting expertise in support of a purpose-driven organization that is making a real difference in communities across the country.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all general ledger activities.
  • Coordinate and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  • Manage the preparation of the company's budget and financial forecasts.
  • Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  • Perform continuous analysis of variances and reconciliations.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including construction, development, real estate, and non-profit accounting.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely monthly and year-end financial reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO/President and members of the executive management team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on construction, development, real estate, non-profit, month-end close, ledger, monthly reporting, financials, and annual budget.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Experience with a major ERP system is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal direction.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record for developing and guiding a team to achieve their best.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude.
