Position Summary
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in the patient care team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of care are met.

Key Responsibilities
The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in direct patient care during office visits, which may include:
    - Preparing examination rooms and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
    - Safely disposing of contaminated materials and sterilizing instruments
    - Positioning patients for examinations and procedures
    - Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    - Recording vital signs, patient history, and primary concerns
    - Performing additional patient care duties as required
  • Supporting healthcare providers during clinical procedures, which may involve:
    - Preparing patient areas using strict aseptic techniques
    - Assisting in holding patients in position during procedures
    - Handing instruments to providers while maintaining a sterile environment
    - Communicating test results to patients as directed by the physician
  • Conducting phone triage, making follow-up calls, and responding to messages in a timely manner, ensuring all patient interactions are documented accurately.
  • Coordinating care and diagnostic testing with external facilities as instructed by the physician.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and assisting in medication management.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Work Environment
This position requires the ability to perform tasks in both office and clinical settings, with physical demands including prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 pounds.
