Position Summary:

The NeXT Personal RUO Team Leader will play a crucial role in orchestrating revenue generation, collaborative efforts, and developmental initiatives to drive the success of the NeXT Personal product line.

This individual will work collaboratively across various departments, providing mentorship and direction to team members ranging from entry-level to senior positions in their daily tasks.

They will oversee and engage in the laboratory's daily operations to optimize turnaround times, equipment usage, and resource allocation while maintaining adherence to quality standards and budgetary limits.


Key Responsibilities:

- Schedule and plan specimen processing to achieve established objectives for large-scale projects related to the NeXT Personal product under the guidance of senior management.

- Monitor specimen workflows to ensure timely processing and provide updates to management and laboratory leadership.

- Actively participate in laboratory activities, including the extraction of DNA and RNA from various sample types.

- Conduct quality control assessments of samples and manage sample storage.

- Perform both manual and automated next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparations and ensure quality control of samples.

- Operate NGS equipment, determine sequencing strategies, and manage data results for client samples.

- Contribute to the development and revision of departmental standard operating procedures to reflect current practices.

- Manage procurement of supplies and equipment to enhance departmental efficiency while meeting budgetary and quality objectives.

- Provide technical guidance in areas of responsibility and serve as a resource for problem-solving and process enhancements.

- Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance metrics.

- Maintain effective communication and participate in laboratory meetings.

- Ensure compliance with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

- Oversee staffing needs by participating in the recruitment, training, and competency assessment of personnel.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.

- A minimum of 6 years of relevant laboratory experience is preferred.

- At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.

- Familiarity with NGS environments is preferred.

- Experience with laboratory automation systems and instrumentation is beneficial.

- Proven leadership, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, technical, and problem-solving skills are essential.

- A strong desire to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment, with the ability to inspire team members to excel.
