Senior Multifamily Architecture Leader

Position Overview:

The Director of Multifamily Architecture will be responsible for spearheading the design efforts for our diverse multifamily projects. With ownership or control over land for more than 2,500 units slated for development, this senior architectural role requires a visionary leader to guide the design process from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate creativity and a passion for modern residential design, while fostering a collaborative and positive workplace culture.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active AIA license in Utah.
  • 8-10+ years of architectural design experience.
  • Proven track record in mid-rise multifamily and commercial projects, with comprehensive knowledge of design principles, industry standards, building codes, and zoning regulations.
  • Experience with at least 5 multifamily projects comprising 150+ units in the past decade is preferred.
  • Familiarity with city permitting, zoning, and entitlement processes.
  • Proficient in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bim 360, and related tools.
  • Skilled in Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Autodesk, PlanGrid, Lumion, and CAD as necessary.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, showcasing exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with experience working alongside diverse teams of developers, builders, designers, and marketing professionals.
  • Excellent communication, team-building, resource management, and conflict resolution skills are essential.
  • Prior experience in a leadership capacity is highly desirable.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage with stakeholders, including developers, designers, contractors, consultants, and local authorities, to ensure project requirements are met and executed smoothly.
  • Oversee the development of architectural designs and complete plan sets from concept through to finalization, ensuring adherence to project goals, standards, specifications, and relevant codes.
  • Develop and refine conceptual site plans or density studies, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and regulatory bodies until approval is granted.
  • Integrate zoning regulations and jurisdictional requirements into the site planning process.
  • Ensure the quality and precision of architectural plans, specifications, and documentation.
  • Stay informed on current trends in residential and multifamily projects, integrating these insights into design strategies.
  • Create 3D models and preliminary renderings, providing reference images or diagrams as needed.
  • Guide project teams in design direction, facilitating innovative problem-solving and excellence in design.
  • Assist clients with city entitlement documentation and navigate the permit review process.
  • Present project updates, progress reports, and design proposals to management, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients and stakeholders, maintaining open lines of communication and addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility as project requirements and scopes evolve.
