Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Radiology & Medical Imaging is seeking a dedicated professional to fill the role of either a Grants and Contracts Specialist or Administrator within our innovative research team. This role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both remote and on-site contributions.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be integral to the management of financial and administrative functions related to research initiatives following funding approval. Responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring the precision of sponsored program expenditures while adhering to federal, state, sponsor, and institutional regulations.
  • Preparing and certifying account reconciliations, processing supplier invoices, and managing purchase orders.
  • Conducting financial oversight and compliance support in alignment with sponsor and institutional guidelines.
  • Performing comprehensive financial analyses of award expenditures and forecasting future financial needs.
  • Identifying potential risks and issues related to research projects, including budget discrepancies and compliance concerns.
  • Collaborating with Principal Investigators (PIs) and stakeholders to devise strategies for risk mitigation and issue resolution.
  • Preparing progress reports in accordance with sponsor requirements.
  • Submitting payroll allocations and adjustments, and confirming payroll accounts with faculty.
  • Staying updated on changes in funding agency regulations and best practices in research administration.
  • Meeting regularly with faculty to review grant reports and financial balances.

Minimum Qualifications
Grants and Contracts Specialist:
Education: Associate's degree
Experience: Minimum of two years in grant and contract management. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Grants and Contracts Administrator:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Minimum of three years in grant and contract management. Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements.
Certification: Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in monitoring research grants and contracts.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Aptitude for researching and reconciling financial data effectively.
  • Familiarity with ResearchUVA and Workday Finance is advantageous, though not required.

Physical Requirements
This position primarily involves sedentary work with extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings and programs.
