Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Foster Care Recruitment and Training Specialist is responsible for identifying, educating, and certifying families seeking to become licensed foster parents. This role also involves the ongoing support and training of foster families throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for prospective foster families, ensuring all training is completed within specified timelines.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local Department of Social Services (DSS) and other referral agencies to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Utilize the agency's established training models to equip foster families with the necessary skills to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and provide guidance to families navigating the licensing process.
  • Maintain regular communication with families in training, providing support and resources as needed.
  • Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate the readiness of families for licensing.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation for licensing, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote foster care awareness and recruitment.
  • Facilitate monthly training and support groups for foster families, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.
  • Provide case management services as necessary, stepping in during staff shortages or emergencies.
  • Meet established recruitment goals and actively participate in team meetings to discuss family placements and training progress.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required.
  • Certification in a state-approved foster parent training program is essential.
  • Experience with the Teaching-Family Model is preferred.
  • Prior experience in case management or supervising foster care services is advantageous.
  • Experience in recruiting or training foster parents is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including sitting, standing, and driving.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.
