Position Summary:
The Foster Care Recruitment and Training Specialist is responsible for identifying, training, and certifying families interested in becoming foster parents. This role involves coordinating the placement of children in foster care and providing ongoing support and training to foster families throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-service training for prospective foster families, ensuring completion within designated timeframes.
- Establish and nurture relationships with local Department of Social Services (DSS) offices and other referral agencies to enhance recruitment efforts.
- Implement the agency's Teaching-Family Model to effectively train foster families on safety assessments and family strengths.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of foster care regulations and ensure compliance with licensing standards.
- Assist families in navigating the licensing process, including understanding state requirements and facilitating license transfers when necessary.
- Engage with families throughout the training process, maintaining regular communication and support.
- Conduct in-home visits with families prior to licensing to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Coordinate secondary reviews of potential foster homes as needed to ensure quality placements.
- Prepare detailed training reports and documentation for review, including individual training plans and progress updates.
- Gather and submit all necessary documentation for foster parent licensure to the Licensing Specialist.
- Participate in the planning and execution of training sessions, licensing activities, and child placement services.
- Represent the agency at community events and forums to promote foster care awareness.
- Facilitate monthly training and support groups for foster families and children.
- Provide case management services as required, stepping in during staff shortages or emergencies.
- Lead recruitment initiatives in the assigned region, fostering relationships with referral sources such as mental health providers and juvenile justice agencies.
- Meet established recruitment goals for the region.
- Participate in clinical meetings to discuss family readiness and ongoing needs before licensing paperwork is finalized.
- Attend orientation and training sessions with foster parents to ensure comprehensive understanding of the process.

- Preferred experience with the Teaching-Family Model and in case management or supervising foster care services.
- Experience in recruiting or training foster parents is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions, including sitting, using hands, and communicating effectively.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as necessary for job duties.
- Work environment is primarily office-based with moderate noise levels.
