Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate design concepts and ideas utilizing Creo.
  • Create prototypes through 3D printing, sheet metal forming, and other techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team, manage your workload efficiently, and provide assistance as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and clients, both internal and external.
  • Propose enhancements for designs, processes, and products.
  • Consistently fulfill scheduled hours and be open to additional hours when required.
  • Perform various tasks as necessary to support business objectives.

Opportunities Available:

  • Manufacturing Process Engineering:
    • Advise on process enhancements to optimize product flow and oversee the implementation of lean manufacturing strategies.
    • Coordinate with engineering teams on significant product modifications.
    • Manage the execution of incremental product improvements through the ECO process and other opportunities.
    • Assist in developing prototype cabinet designs to gather insights and assess effectiveness.
    • Support the creation of workstations, gravity racks, carts, and fixtures, collecting feedback to evaluate their efficiency.
  • Mechanical Design:
    • Facilitate product development across all stages, from initial design to production.
    • Produce precise design drawings and documentation using Creo, assisting engineers with drafting bills of materials and routing documentation.
    • Help document and verify components in Creo.
    • Assemble and evaluate prototypes, including structural, thermal, and reliability testing.
    • Create detailed drawings of sub-assemblies and components.
    • Draft operation sequences and bills of materials (BOM).
    • Assist in coordinating the manufacturing of systems on a project basis.
    • Support installation efforts as required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The typical hourly wage for this position ranges from $20.00 to $22.00, influenced by various factors such as education, experience, location, and applicable local regulations.

Students maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher may qualify for a $500 bonus each semester while employed.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled as a student and registered for a minimum of 12 credits.
  • Preferred candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ideal applicants are in their sophomore or junior year of study.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered, with a preference for a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Unofficial Transcripts or Web Transcripts must be submitted with the application for consideration.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including AutoCAD; experience with Creo is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with general drafting practices is advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge are essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational abilities and self-motivation.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to operate automated equipment and/or hand tools, work with various odors, lift and carry up to 45 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must meet all workplace safety standards.
