Internship Overview
This internship will provide you with hands-on experience as you serve as a bridge between Manufacturing and Engineering. You will tackle daily challenges within manufacturing processes and products, gaining invaluable insights.
- Propose enhancements to optimize product flow and implement lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with Engineering on significant product modifications.
- Oversee the execution of incremental product enhancements through Engineering Change Order (ECO) suggestions and overall process improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the development of prototype cabinet designs to gather feedback and assess effectiveness.
- Support the construction of workstations, gravity racks, carts, work aids, and fixtures, while collecting feedback to evaluate their efficiency.
- Generate concepts and ideas for tooling designs using Creo.
- Fabricate prototypes utilizing 3D printing, sheet metal forming, or other techniques.
- Work collaboratively as a team member, demonstrating initiative and effective communication with colleagues.
- Maintain punctuality and good attendance, with a willingness to work additional hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as required to support manufacturing operations.
Compensation and Benefits
The typical pay range for this position is between $21.00 and $23.00 per hour. The final offer will take into account various factors, including relevant education, experience, and local regulations.
Additionally, we provide financial relocation assistance for positions that necessitate placement in a specific area.
This role is eligible for company benefits, including an employee discount program, employee assistance program, community donation initiatives, unpaid time off, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and various leave options.
Qualifications
Academic Requirements:
- Must be an enrolled student, registered for a minimum of 12 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate) at the time of application.
- Preferred candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Junior status or higher is preferred.
- Ability to take a semester off from studies to complete the internship, if not a graduate.
- Must work through the Cooperative Education/Internship Program at your accredited university to arrange for credit during this internship.
- Students starting the internship immediately after graduation will also be considered.
- Strong academic performance is essential, with a preference for a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must accompany the application.
Other Requirements:
- Commitment to 40 hours per week is required.
- Experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD software is necessary, with a preference for Creo.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with good organizational abilities and self-motivation.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Quick learning ability and sound judgment are essential.
- Physical requirements include the ability to operate automated equipment and/or hand tools, lift and carry up to 45 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
