Position Overview:

GAI Consultants is in search of a Construction Compliance Inspector to be primarily based in the Jacksonville, FL region, with responsibilities extending to nearby areas.

Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer/Construction Manager, the inspector will be tasked with monitoring the contractor's operations to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role, as collaboration with various stakeholders is a key component of the job.


Job Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executing complex technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout.
  • Performing engineering calculations and inspecting construction activities.
  • Conducting field tests and coordinating with senior inspection personnel.
  • Interpreting project plans and specifications.
  • Ensuring contractor compliance with contract documents.
  • Documenting construction activities through written reports and photographs.
  • Tracking site quantities and performing construction math computations.
  • Verifying permit compliance and conducting materials inspections.

Required Certifications:

Applicants should possess the following certifications:

  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level 1
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection (preferred)
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of drilled shafts and related structures) (preferred)
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

Physical Demands:

The role requires:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Capability to navigate rough terrain typical of construction sites.
  • Proficiency in walking on steep and varied terrain under diverse weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of two (2) years in construction inspection is required, including at least one (1) year in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma (required)

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in construction inspection, with at least 1 year in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection (required).

Licenses and Certifications: Required certifications include FDOT Concrete Field Tech, FDOT CTQP Asphalt Pavement Technician, FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspector, FDOT CTQP Final Estimates, FDOT Drilled Shaft, FDOT Pile Driving, and Traffic Signal Inspector.

Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities are essential.
