Position Overview:

GAI Consultants is in search of a Construction Compliance Inspector based in the Jacksonville, FL area, with assignments primarily in the Tallahassee, FL or Panama City, FL regions.

Under the guidance of the Senior Project Engineer/Construction Manager, the inspector will be responsible for supervising the contractor's activities to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.

Excellent public relations and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities:

As a Construction Compliance Inspector, your duties will include:

  • Conducting complex technical assignments related to field surveying and construction layout.
  • Performing engineering computations and inspecting construction activities.
  • Coordinating with senior inspection personnel and following their directives.
  • Interpreting project plans and specifications.
  • Monitoring contractor performance for compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Documenting construction activities through written reports and photographic evidence.
  • Tracking site quantities and performing construction-related calculations.
  • Verifying compliance with permits and conducting materials inspections, including taking field samples as required.

Required Certifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following certifications:

  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level 1
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection (preferred)
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of drilled shafts and related structures) (preferred)
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

Physical Demands:

The role requires:

  • The ability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
  • Capability to navigate rough terrain typically found on construction sites.
  • Physical endurance to walk on steep and varied terrain in all weather conditions.
  • A valid driver's license.

Experience Requirements:

Candidates should have:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction inspection, with at least one (1) year in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma (required)

Experience: Two years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection (required).

Licenses and Certifications: Required certifications include FDOT Concrete Field Tech, FDOT CTQP Asphalt Pavement Technician, FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspector, FDOT CTQP Final Estimates, FDOT Drilled Shaft, FDOT Pile Driving, and Traffic Signal Inspector.
