We are looking for a Lead Construction Inspector to oversee our Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) Practice. This role involves monitoring contractor activities to assess the quality and progress of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and report discrepancies, ensuring contractors address any significant issues.
- Work autonomously under general supervision, applying advanced judgment in complex project methodologies.
- Conduct intricate technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout, including engineering computations.
- Oversee construction inspections and field tests, managing junior inspectors as necessary.
- Interpret contract documents to ensure contractor compliance with specifications, performing engineering calculations as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive records of daily contractor operations and significant project events.
- Conduct inspections of construction work.
- Perform sampling and field testing of materials and completed work in line with contract requirements.
- Provide guidance to junior inspectors when required.
- Some travel may be necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in construction inspection, with exposure to bridge and/or roadway projects, or a Civil Engineering degree with the potential to obtain additional qualifications within one year.
- Must possess materials sampling and testing certifications relevant to the project scope.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop for extended periods in various outdoor conditions.
- Capability to reach both horizontally and vertically for necessary tasks.
- Proficient in using construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
- ACI Level 1 Certification.
- CTQP Concrete Field Level 1 Certification.
- CTQP Earthwork Levels 1 and 2 Certifications.
- CTQP Paving Levels 1 and 2 Certifications.
- CTQP Final Estimates Level 1 Certification.
- MOT Intermediate or higher Certification.
- NPDES Stormwater Inspector Certification.
