We are looking for a Senior Construction Quality Inspector to enhance our Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) Practice. In this role, you will monitor the contractor's performance to assess the progress and quality of work on various construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detect and report significant inconsistencies to management, guiding the contractor to rectify any identified issues.
- Operate autonomously under general oversight, applying advanced judgment in implementing standard methodologies and procedures for intricate projects.
- Conduct complex technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout, including engineering computations.
- Oversee construction activities and perform field tests, while coordinating and managing junior inspectors.
- Interpret contract documents (plans and specifications) to evaluate if the contractor's work aligns with contractual obligations. This may involve making and/or verifying engineering calculations.
- Maintain comprehensive and precise records of the contractor's daily operations and significant occurrences impacting the work.
- Conduct inspections of construction activities.
- Perform sampling and field testing of materials and completed work in accordance with the Construction Contract documents.
- Provide guidance to junior inspectors as necessary.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in construction inspection, particularly in bridge and/or roadway construction, or a Civil Engineering degree with the potential to acquire additional required qualifications within one year.
- Possession of materials sampling and testing certifications relevant to the project scope.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop for extended periods under various outdoor conditions.
- Capability to reach both horizontally and vertically for necessary tasks.
- Proficiency in using construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection gear.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
- ACI Level 1 Certification.
- CTQP Concrete Field Level 1 Certification.
- CTQP Earthwork Levels 1 and 2 Certifications.
- CTQP Paving Levels 1 and 2 Certifications.
- CTQP Final Estimates Level 1 Certification.
- MOT Intermediate or higher Certification.
- NPDES Stormwater Inspector Certification.
