Job Title: Assistant Director, Corporate Member Relations

Overview:

The Assistant Director, Corporate Member Relations will play a key role in supporting the Council on Foreign Relations' (CFR) Corporate Affairs department. This department is responsible for administering the Corporate Program, which raises over $6 million through its membership program. The program offers a forum for executives from approximately 100 leading global businesses to explore issues at the nexus of business and foreign policy.

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Managing Director, Corporate Member Relations, to ensure the highest level of corporate member interaction. This will involve managing a portfolio of corporate member and prospect companies, serving as their primary point of contact with the Council, and coordinating and tracking corporate member and prospect relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate member and prospect companies, serving as their primary point of contact with the Council.
  • Coordinate and track corporate member and prospect relationships, including stewardship opportunities, retention, and relationship strategies.
  • Support outreach by the executive office and the Corporate Programs senior staff, by tracking and scheduling stewardship meetings, preparing backgrounders and meeting materials, drafting correspondence to primary contacts and senior executives, and managing follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Programming team on content and speakers relevant to corporate member companies.
  • Coordinate corporate member participation in NY and DC for special events, and meeting opportunities with Studies, the National Program, Foreign Affairs, and other departments as necessary.
  • Execute various research projects for the Corporate Affairs department, including but not limited to researching and preparing briefs; research and remain current on relevant topics and regions for member companies and prospective member companies.
  • Extensive use of the membership database, including updating contact information and profiles, tracking relevant interactions, writing and executing queries, generating database reports, and tracking audience development for upcoming events.
  • Provide occasional coverage for the email and phone line for the Corporate Program, serving as an initial point of contact for executives from corporate member companies.
  • Work closely with all Corporate team members and other departments in support of overall departmental and institutional priorities and provide assistance across departmental lines upon request.
  • Staff New York Corporate Program and CFR-wide events, including early morning breakfasts and evening meetings outside of regular business hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related field with an interest in business, economics, and international relations with high academic achievement.
  • 4+ years of related work experience, preferably at a non-profit organization or in the private sector.
  • Experience in fundraising, relationship management, and corporate stewardship.
  • Experience working with high-level executives preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, both across departmental lines and with high-profile and senior executives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work within deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, self-starter that can work effectively, both independently and on a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Dynamics database management experience strongly preferred, and the aptitude to learn and utilize different technologies.
  • Flexible schedule with willingness to work early morning and evening events.

Pay Range:

$68,000 to $75,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
