Job Summary

Idaho Housing and Finance Association is seeking a highly skilled Loss Mitigation Specialist/Counselor to join our Mortgage Loan Servicing department. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with borrowers who are past due on their payments, providing financial education and counseling to help them achieve loan resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate guidance on payment methods based on loan circumstances.
  • Assess loan status and borrower circumstances to offer accurate assistance or referrals.
  • Deliver HUD Counseling to support borrowers.
  • Review borrowers for Home Retention Programs tailored to loan type.
  • Order property inspections and facilitate property preservation efforts as needed.
  • Resolve delinquency through collection efforts and borrower assistance programs.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or financial services collection.
  • Experience with loss mitigation programs and loan counseling is preferred.
  • HUD Counseling Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organization and time management skills are essential.
  • Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills are necessary.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment is required.
